projection mapping, laser cut wood / 2019
for illuminus festival boston 2019
commissioned for illuminus festival, this work was designed to engage with the ongoing oppression of transgender people in the united states via bathroom laws. transgender people are constantly vilified for using the bathroom that matches their gender identity via false claims of them endangering others. in reality, statistics show that transgender people experience by far the most violence against them while using bathrooms that do not match their gender identity.
using madmapper and custom laser-cut wooden signs, this was installed outdoors for the festival. this involved waterproofing the projector and computer via a recycled paper towel dispenser.
