children’s stem education for zuckerberg media
Inspiring kids to embrace science & technology and think creatively with new innovations, Sue's is a pop-up experience that aims to turn picky eaters into adventurous makers through the power of snacks. Kids & families can turn custom 3D models into chocolate, print complex pancake shapes straight to the griddle, and instantly deep-freeze tasty snacks with liquid nitrogen. when they're not eating, kids & families can play in Sue's universes-- there's infinite mirror rooms, full dome projection chambers, interactive dining tables, virtual reality cubes, and even challenge zones for coding robots using gumballs.
I directed design of Sue's while VP of Product at Zuckerberg Media. this meant leading the creative team to design, fabricate, and execute the full interactive installation space. The inaugural pop-up stop was at the Tomorrow Building in Chattanooga, TE and the second at Cornell Tech on Roosevelt Island in New York.
this included designing and fabricating a keyboard controlled by touching various apples,a full projection dome and interactive dining table, and an infinity mirror room. culinary experiments included 3d printed chocolate designs and nitrogen flash frozen cereal treats.
The fruit drum was designed to be an engaging first experience for kids walking into Sue's. I wanted to inspire everyone arriving to look at food differently right off the bat and immediately set the core theme: Thinking creatively with everything at your dinner table. The drum uses capacitive touch through connections to the apples to trigger a series of sounds. No ground connection is required and the entire computing and audio system lives inside the instrument.
additionally, I created the logo for the event and managed the branding across our live iterations.
