sonic anthropology of the boston music scene

93 local bands. 138 sources. A Terrible blitz through the past few years in the small, local Boston music scene.

in collaboration with the local music blog, bishop and rook (with help from jon from sound of boston), I undertook a new sonic anthropology project. the goal was to capture a snapshot of the local boston scene via mashup techniques. what made this so interesting was that, rather than having to scavenge for acapellas, do mixing tricks, etc. like I usually do, i could actually go straight to the artists and ask for stems. it was a great way to get to know more bands and meet folks, and i had a lovely time—i even got to chat with the voice of the mbta at one point.
